"Independent Banker" Shines Spotlight on the Next Generation

One Of Our Own Featured in National Banking Magazine

Beecher, Illinois (August 4, 2012) - In his article for ICBA Independent Banker (featured below), the award-winning monthly publication of the Independent Community Bankers of America, President and CEO Camden R. Fine introduced three of community banking's rising stars. One of those stars is our own Cameron Ohlendorf, credit analyst at First Community Bank and Trust.
The article, which appears in the August 2012 issue of the monthly magazine, expresses the optimism and enthusiasm of these young bankers and their promising future in community banking. All three of these "whiz kids" as Mr. Fine refers to them, grew up working at a community bank where their father served as chief executive. That first-hand look has directly influenced each to return to their community banking roots. Cameron explains that the bank's integral role in the life of the community is what drew him back.  "I didn't want to go to one of the big banks," he stated in the article. "Here, we're very involved with the community. That community involvement is why I came back."

One emerging area each of the young bankers embrace, rather than fear, is technology. They all agree that "technology, and the array of products and services it enables banks to provide, helps create the customer experience for any service business, including community banking." They view it as a necessity that empowers community banks to fully leverage their relationship banking strengths and allows them to compete with larger banks.

With the brimming mindsets and creative talents of the upcoming generation preparing to take over, community banking is positioned to endure and prosper. Read the full article below.
