Ohlendorf Named Outstanding Banker

CBAI recognizes First Community Bank and Trust President for Numerous Contributions

Ohlendorf CBAI AwardSPRINGFIELD, IL (September 26, 2011) –Each year at its annual convention, the Community Banker's Association of Illinois (CBAI) recognizes one or more community bankers as an "Outstanding Member". The recipient must be a community banker who has performed above and beyond the call of duty to benefit the cause of community banking through Community Bankers Association of Illinois (CBAI), either during the past year or over a period of years.

By virtue of an exceptional contribution of time, energy, and ideas to serve community banking, this year's Outstanding Member is Greg Ohlendorf, president of First Community Bank & Trust in Beecher, who was named at CBAI's 2011 37th Annual Convention & Exposition held recently in Milwaukee, WI. Over the past 25 years, Ohlendorf has been involved in virtually every aspect of CBAI. He has served in leadership as a CBAI Group Director, regularly participates in the Washington Visitation, Capital Conference, Annual Scholarship Program, and utilizes numerous association services.

Ohlendorf has also been a major force in the development of the Community Bankers School. He was a member of its inaugural graduating class in 1988 and elected its class representative; he has chaired the School Subcommittee, and is the only graduate to serve on The School faculty. He has also sent 10 students to The School over the years.

More recently, Ohlendorf has applied his considerable skills with the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) at the federal level and currently serves as chairman of ICBA's Policy Development Committee. During the past year, he addressed several congressional and regulatory hearings on behalf of ICBA and CBAI. For example, he testified before the House Financial Institutions Subcommittee on the causes of the commercial real-estate crisis and ways to resolve them. He also testified at a special hearing on Regulation C, the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Most recently he addressed the Small Business Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax and Capital Access.
